“How many books do you read in a year?”
A lot of people buy books simply because they happen to like the cover, or because their favorite author’s released a new book, only to find that they don’t have any time to read. But there’s a way to read those books a little more pleasantly, and a little more leisurely!
’Bookstays’ give us a chance to have a ‘special break’ away from our mundane everyday lives. It’s a “place for all travelers who want to spend a night with a book,” so it’ll be perfect for anyone who loves reading, and traveling. Today, we’ll introduce to you Bookstay locations where you’ll be able to read to your hearts’ content.
Recharge Inspirations at ‘Motifone’ of Heyri Art Village
In Heyri Art Village of Paju City, there’s a place where time slows down. “Motifone” was named so to mean “the No.1 reason that keeps me alive”, and it’s designed to help its visitors find answers to whatever they find most important. Opened 14 years ago, the 14,000 books in its study provide a beautiful backdrop for anyone to concentrate only on oneself.
What makes this place more special is the fact that despite being a guesthouse, there are no dormitory-type rooms! All spaces within Motifone are studies and studios. With new books to find in each room, the place is perfect for all book lovers! The “guest book” full of stories written by former guests is another special item, which could double as yet another book full of words of comfort.
The Picturesque Ark of Pyeongtaek Lake, ‘Arca Books’
When we think of bookstores, it’s easy to imagine rows of bookshelves full of nothing but books. But ‘Arca Books’ is full of stories of people who visit to enjoy the nature, consisting of warm sunlight, the vast Pyeongtaek Lake under the blue sky and the sounds of pages turning. The interior is adorned with Finnish wood that allows you to read amidst calming scents. The guesthouse and bookstore buildings are built in the shape of arks, making you feel like you’ve entered the pages of an illustrated book.
The guesthouse is separated from the bookstore, and it’s very popular. It’s available for one family of 4 at a time, and guesthouse guests can read freely even after the bookstore closes at 6. It’s a great place to spend some leisurely time, feeling the sunlight coming through the big glass windows!
Be a Bookstore Owner for a Day! ‘Bookstore Avec’
Anyone who loves books dreams of being a bookstore owner once or twice. It’s a place only for yourself, where you can be surrounded by books to think. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, ‘Bookstore Avec’ and its 90s vibes await the next traveler’s story.
Here, you’ll find various books under the theme of ‘love’, be it between family, romantic partners, friends, or anyone for that matter. Avec also boasts of a unique space with a “used book shelf,” on which there are books with small notes attached. These are donated books for sale, and on the notes are the names and titles of the donor. Part of the profits made from sales of these books goes to charities for animals, so how about donating books you’re done with?
‘Oh, Sarang’ is a small room attached to the bookstore used as the Bookstay space. Visitors can stay the night and feel like the owner of the bookstore after it closes. If you’re looking for a place to spend a quiet, peaceful day, Avec is where you want to go!
