August was the busiest month for Incheon Airport with the highest numbers of visitors coming through. An average of 60,000 people visited every day, keeping everyone at Incheon Airport very busy, providing the best service for all those passengers.
There were a lot of ongoing events and efforts made for our passengers. We hope that they made the experience at Incheon Airport a positive one. Let’s take a look at what was going on in August!

Joint Volunteer Group, ICN V-AMBASSADORS, Aims to Improve Community and Environment

The first news is regarding the launch of the Incheon Airport’s Joint Volunteer Group ‘ICN V-AMBASSADORS! Through AMBASADER, which means ambassador, all members of the volunteer group will represent Incheon Airport and serve the community and those in need.
A total of 50 people were selected through recommendations from 21 engineering companies including construction, Incheon Airport subsidiaries, government agencies, airlines, and duty-free shops. 🎉 Everyone volunteered out of good will to participate in this charitable endeavor. The members will volunteer once a month for the next year to improve the living environment for the vulnerable, through acts like delivering coal briquettes or volunteering overseas. ☺
Incheon Airport ✈ striving to improve Earth and society! Constant efforts are being made to save the Earth and our environment, including going plogging for the Green Landing Operation V Project. Marketing Campaign Targeting Transit Passengers Features Pink Fong character, Baby Shark

Baby shark, ddurururururu 🎶 Baby shark, ddurururururu! 🎶
Chances are you’re humming along from merely reading the lyrics to this song. 😏 The Korean character Baby Shark set a world record, garnering 10 billion views for its trademark song! Incheon Airport visitors were able to meet Baby Shark, along with other various Pink Fong characters, throughout the month of August.
With the number of visiting passengers increasing, Incheon Airport teamed up with the global family entertainment giant, The Pink Fong Company, to further enrich the travel experience for transit passengers in particular. A photo zone was set up in the duty-free zone of Passenger Terminal 2 so families and their children were able to take photos with a Baby Shark donned in a Hanbok.
In addition, as part of online marketing efforts, a special theme song was produced to be shown throughout the airport and on the media wall. For those that want to experience Incheon Airport’s fast and convenient transit services with Baby Shark and its family as guides, search the video “Open the Doors to the World”.
2022 Incheon Airport Honorary Gatekeeper Appointment Ceremony Held

As mentioned earlier, there were a lot of people who visited Incheon Airport ✈ amidst the COVID situation improving and the summer travel season being in full swing. The daily number of passengers who visited Incheon Airport exceeded 10,000. In response, Incheon Airport held a special performance to show gratitude to not just the visiting passengers, but also the resident employees who are working hard in security, sanitation, etc. to help speed up the normalization of airport operations.
The special performance, which lasted for about 40 minutes from noon on July 29th, was free for anyone to watch! The “2022 Incheon Airport Honorary Gatekeeper Appointment Ceremony” featured actor Lim Ho, who played the role of King. There was much to see and enjoy, including performances from the media art percussion team “Gori” and calligraphist Kim So-young. The Korea Cultural Foundation’s Goodwill Ambassador, singer Song Ga-in, also participated by delivering a moving performance and further spreading Korean culture.
Resident Companies Join for Recruitment Day, Seeking Hires to Provide Top Quality Service

Incheon Airport resident companies joined for Recruitment Day, to fill the need for increasing the workforce and continue to provide quality service to the growing number of passengers. Recruitment Day was a valuable opportunity for both companies to add to their work team and for job seekers to find jobs.
The event, which began at 11 p.m. on August 11th at the Aviation Job Support Center at Incheon Airport Terminal 1, was open to everyone, including the young, middle-aged, and women with career breaks. Over 100 people were hired for valuable positions, such as in ground operations, duty-free goods management, and the F&B industry.
Incheon Airport ✈ will continue to support both companies and job seekers through various efforts. One example being employment support services being provided through the employment support center as travel demands continue to recover. ☺
Airport Normalization Draws in 1.26 Million Passengers During Peak Summer Season

Many people visited Incheon Airport with COVID conditions easing. International flights were normalizing and slot restrictions and curfews were lifted. During the peak summer travel season, which ran for 20 days from July 22nd to August 10th, an average of 60,000 passengers visited Incheon Airport every day for a total of 1.26 million visitors!
In response, Incheon Airport adopted the Quarantine Information Pre-entry System (Q-Code) to speed up travelers’ entry procedures. The airport also held inspections on various safety systems, including for water drainage and traffic signs.
Additionally, with the pandemic not over yet, a smart preventative system was put in place to better handle the increased number of passengers, so that sanitization of communal facilities and emergency response systems could continue to operate without any hitches. Through this, the airport was able to provide a pleasant experience for those excited to go on their first summer trip in a long time. ☺
Looking back, August really was a busy month!
